Located in the northwest part of Botswana, near the borders to Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, Chobe National Park covers 10,566 square km area, which is full of a wide variety of wildlife animals. They are four distinct eco-systems that one can find in the park known as the Serondela area (extreme northeast), the Savuti Marsh area (west), the Linyanti Marsh (northwest) and the hot dry hinterland. The park is also known to the rest of the world for its high density of elephants.
Things to Do
It is an amazing experience exploring the Chobe National Park. Take a jeep and go-ahead to explore the four areas of the park.
Serondela: It is located at the extreme northeast end of the park. It is the area where the Chobe River flows along the northeastern border. Elephants and buffaloes come to drink water during the dry season here and hence the tourists get a wonderful opportunity to see them in a great number. You will also find the famous bee-eater here.
Savuti: It is the relic of a large inland lake. The area is covered with extensive savannahs and rolling grasslands. You will come to see warthogs, impalas, kudus, zebras, wildebeests, and elephants here. To add to these, there are also cheetahs, lions, and hyenas as well.
Linyanti: Located at the northwest side, adjacent to Linyanti River, this area has a large concentration of lions, leopards, Roan antelopes, Sable antelopes, wild dogs, hippopotamuses, and elephants.
Hinterland: Though this area is quite a little known, yet it provides you the opportunity to see elands.
