The largest game concentration in Africa, the first national park of Botswana, the second largest national park in the country, and the most diverse national park as well in Botswana — Chobe National Park is full of characters. The uniqueness of park lies in availability of wildlife in abundance along with its true African nature. And it is a continuous process of discovering new wonders as you proceed into the park gradually. Chobe National Park is truly a treat to explore.

Located in the northwest part of Botswana, near the borders to Zambia, Zimbabwe and Namibia, Chobe National Park covers 10,566 square km area, which is full of a wide variety of wildlife animals. The are four distinct eco-systems that one can find in the park known as the Serondela area (extreme northeast), the Savuti Marsh area (west), the Linyanti Marsh (northwest) and the hot dry hinterland. The park is also known to the rest of the world for its high density of elephants.

Things to Do

It is an amazing experience exploring the Chobe National Park. Take a jeep and go ahead to explore the four areas of the park.

Serondela: It is located at the extreme northeast end of the park. It is the area where the Chobe River flows along the northeastern border. Elephants and buffaloes come to drink water during the dry season here and hence the tourists get a wonderful opportunity to see them in a great number. You will also find the famous bee-eater here.

Savuti: It is the relic of a large inland lake. The area is covered with extensive savannahs and rolling grasslands. You will come to see warthogs, impalas, kudus, zebras, wildebeests, and elephants here. To add with these, there are also cheetahs, lions and hyenas as well.

Linyanti: Located at the northwest side, adjacent to Linyanti River, this area has large concentration of lions, leopards, Roan antelopes, Sable antelopes, wild dogs, hippopotamuses, and elephants.

Hinterland: Though this area is quite little known, yet it provides you the opportunity to see elands.
