Sand Rivers Selous Lodge in the midst of this wild area was set up in 1984 by Richard Bonham. This jungle lodge not only serves as your holiday retreat, but also a base for forest expeditions. The lodge arranges driving safaris, and trekking expeditions through bush lands and river banks for closer view of animal and plant life.

Sand Rivers Selous Activities

Selous Walking Safari, and excursion of four days is a thrilling escapade to even the most remote locations of Selous Game Reserve. Throughout the day you walk through magical landscapes and diverse habitats exploring them in details. You would discover woodlands, plains, lakes and gorges. At night you relax inside a fly-camp. These walks are usually arranged in the early mornings and late afternoons, while the remaining part of the day you spend relaxing or fishing.


Fishing is also an inspiring pastime in Selous Game Reserve where you can spend hours together testing your luck with the fishing line. You would love walking barefoot along the banks of Rufiji River. Make a boat trip to Streigler’s Gorge and Kidai Island

The Sand Rivers Selous with cottages facing the open wilderness is a perfect recluse for a rejuvenating vacation. Its five rooms and two suites are all provided with private bathrooms and all modern amenities. Running cold and hot water, and flush toilets makes staying comfortable and trouble free in this lodge. Rhino House, their new honeymoon cottage is located on a hillside and offers unobstructed view of the Rifiji River and the surrounding wilderness.

Food is served in the mess thereby allowing you to interact with the other guests. You might also have your food in the privacy of your rooms.
