Lake Palace, better known as Taj Lake Palace, is a dream creation in white marble inside Lake Pichola in Udaipur. Conceived and implemented by Maharana Jagat Singh II, this masterpiece in marble and mosaic took shape in 1746. With the Aravalli Mountains as its backdrop, Lake Place Hotel spreads over a lake island of four acres. This majestic creation creates a mesmerizing vision on full moon nights and is aptly the foremost honeymoon location in India. The splendor and royalty makes you feel like a king pampered at every moment of your staying here.

This 250-year-old palace converted into Lake Palace Hotel Udaipur is much beyond any other luxury hotel. The attendants and concierge are mostly descendants of the retainers who served the Maharanas of Mewar who ruled over these territories of Rajasthan in India. You would be assured of the same treatment as the royals of Rajasthan used to get centuries ago. Every nook and corner is meticulously maintained and there is no scope of any complaint. The reception and hospitality you receive here is beyond comparison. Here in Lake Palace Udaipur you always receive more than what you have paid for.

Staying in Lake Palace

Udaipur Lake Palace is built around a courtyard with exquisite gardens and small pools. During the evenings, this entire courtyard lit with lanterns and candles, creates an ethereal ambiance. With 66 rooms and 17 suites all set up in royal style reflecting the grandeur of yester years, your staying could never be more regal. Rich murals, delicately carved wooden furniture and opulent craftsmanship characterize each of the rooms and suites. The 'luxury rooms' glamed up in princely style provide stunning view of Pichola Lake. The 'palace rooms' have an additional lounge area and claw foot bathtubs.

The 17 suites are categorized into ten 'grand suites' each with a distinctive name and díécor — five 'royal suites', one 'royal spa suite', and one 'grand presidential suite'. Each of these suites is provided with a swing hung with glistening brass chains. Some suites are featured with colored glass panes; some are adorned with gilt moldings, while some are ornamented with miniature paintings.

In the rooms, you can expect to be greeted by rose petals in the shape of hearts decorating the bed sheets or towels in the shape of swans arranged neatly.
Eating at Lake Palace Udaipur

The food and service at Lake Palace Hotel is impeccable. Food either served at the restaurants or in the rooms is always warm, fresh and delectable. The 24-hour restaurant 'Jharokha' facing the lake was the original dining room of the Rajasthan royals. It serves recipes from all parts of the globe. 'Bhairo' the rooftop restaurant offering a panoramic view of Lake Pichola and Mewar Palace is the perfect place to savor Asian and international fusion cuisine. The courtyard restaurant 'Neel Kamal' facing the lily pond is a specialty Indian dining facility. Its gilt arches and rich upholstery complement perfectly with the crystals and elegant crockery befitting a prince.
