Visiting Israel Museum
The Israel Museum has got an enviable collection. As you start visiting the museum, the first thing that would attract you the most is the Dead Sea Scrolls. Housed in the Shrine of the Book, it is the oldest biblical manuscripts in the world dating back from the 2nd century BCE to the 1st century CE. It includes books of the Hebrew Bible and some other non-canonical texts. There are also some rare early medieval manuscripts of the Bible as well as an auditorium and an information & study center.
The Second Temple Era model of Jerusalem is another attraction of the Israel Museum. It reconstructs the topography and architectural character of the city. Another attraction of Israel Museum is its wonderful Billy Rose Art Garden. It is one of the finest sculpture gardens of the twentieth century.
