Mongolia is a major country in Asia. It is located in the central part of the continent and is a border by Russia to the north and China on the other sides. The capital of the country is Ulan Bator, which is a major tourist destination and industrial hub. Mongolia is a parliamentary republic and has a more or less developed market economy.

Mongolia is spread over an area of 1,564,116 sq kms and is the 19th largest country in the world. It is also a sparsely populated country with a population of only 2.9 million people. The country mostly has a rugged landscape surrounded by mountains and the Gobi Desert. Tibetan Buddhism is the most followed religion in the country.

The climate in Mongolia is mostly temperate. Most of the year remains cold and dry. The summer months are cool while the winter months are severely cold with snowfall. Most of the vegetation in Mongolia consists of steppes.

Transportation

Air: There are some domestic and international airports in Mongolia which operate flights within the country and the surrounding areas. The main airport is the Chinggis Khaan International Airport. The largest flight system in the country is MIAT.

Train: Rail network is more or less developed in the country. The Trans-Siberian Railway crosses through Mongolia and links the country with Russia, Mongolia and China. Domestic rail services are also available.

Road: Cars and buses ply between the major areas of Mongolia. More roads are being made to connect all parts of the country.
