Itinerary of the Jaljale Himal Trek
Being a comparatively new trek, the Jaljale Himal exposes areas that have rarely seen visitor’s footfall before. It was only in the spring of 1988 that the trek was opened for the public by the Nepalese government. It usually begins with a flight to Tumlingtar on the banks of river Arun, and then trek for a day to arrive at Chainpur. It has a very colorful weekly market that is held every Friday. After a two days halt at this destination, the climb begins on to Milke Dande, and then one gradually ascends the Jalhale Himal. The highest point of Jaljale Himal is 15000 feet, which makes it the lowest of all the animals. The wilderness on the way is simply fascinating. You also come across great alpine lakes and beautiful rock formations on the way.

From the Jaljale Himal, visitors are usually carried to Topke Gola, which is a beautiful mountain town at an elevation of 13000 feet and is situated at the banks of the Mewa river. Inhabitants largely include Tibetan traders and yak herders. AS you descend by the river, the slope becomes increasingly gentler, and the climate warmer. The trek finally gets over at Basantpur, from where you drive to Biratnagar and fly back to Kathmandu.
