The Bathurst Inlet Lodge, Nunavut has been adjudged as one among the 'world's top 25 ecolodges'. Bathurst Inlet Lodge in Canada provides an immensely tranquil vacation amidst a marvelous environment of tundra vegetation, wildlife, and landscape. A vacation in this cold wilderness north of Arctic Circle, near Yellowknife would surprise people of all ages, interests, and features.
History
Canada Bathurst Inlet Lodge was set up by a retired Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer and his wife in 1969 in Nunuvut province in North Canada. This lodge situated in a small Inuit community along the Arctic Coast is at an approximate distance of 360 miles northeast of Yellowknife. Nunavut Bathurst Inlet Lodge is owned jointly by the Akoluk and Kapolak families of Nunavat community, and Warner family of Yellowknife.
Significance
Bathurst Inlet Lodge would give the unique opportunity to explore Arctic vegetation, its wildlife and local communities. In a palace with severe winter climatic conditions it is a wonder to find a lodge complete with rest rooms, living room, kitchen, washrooms, library, and conference room. The bedrooms are provided with twin beds, and heated either by electricity, oil or propane. The availability of cereals, eggs, pancakes, cheese, fruits, and cookies is actually surprising. Even full course dinners are also served in Bathurst Lodge. Tea, coffee, and hot chocolates are outstanding.
Activities
Row through the waters of Bathurst inlet in pontoon boats and watch playful seals and the musk oxen along the shores. A variety of gulls, long tailed ducks, yellow-billed and red throated Pacific loons among the birds would fascinate you. It the waters are rough you could explore the region on foot also, which is equally splendid. Caribous, foxes, grizzlies, or even wolves could be chanced upon. If you love bird watching, then rough-legged hawks, golden eagles, and peregrine falcons would amaze you. It is always encouraging to carry a pair of binoculars.

Bathurst Inlet Lodge in itself is an accommodation for tourists. The existence of a hospitable and comfortable lodge in the Arctic region of Canada is incredible. And the availability of adequate food varieties is unimaginable.
