Canadian Rockies, a fortnight's delight, is bound to leave you mesmerized and haunt you till you return again. The Rockies in Canada is an adventurer's paradise. You can go angling in Lake Louis, or skiing in Jasper. Try white water rafting down the Kicking Horse River, or trailing the mountain paths of Banff National Park
Banff National Park is the foremost place that comes to mind while planning a visit to Canada Rockies. Banff which started as a hot spring reserve of 26 square kilometers is presently an immense reserve of more than 6,600 square kilometers. Whether you drive beneath the towering peaks of Icefields Parkway or wander on the banks of Lake Louis, Banff National Park would astonish you. Wolves, grizzly bears, and caribou thrive in the woods of Banff. If you are a motor cyclist do not miss the chance of discovering this National Park. Ride along the eight mile loop route to Banff Springs Golf Course and spot an elk on the way. Or else, ride to the Basin National Historic Site and the Cave and follow it up with a ride to Sundance Canyon along Sundance Road.
The Vermilion Lakes offer a spectacular sight in the Banff National Park area. Deer, elk and waterfowl are viewed easily. Watch out for bald headed eagles between the First and Second Vermilion Lakes. Be careful while you bike in this area so as to avoid collision with fellow cyclists.
Rafting in the Kicking Horse River is a thrilling adventure in the Canadian Rockies. The awe inspiring canyons are best enjoyed while rafting down the grade III and IV rapids of the Kicking Horse River. Even a novice can enjoy this rafting under the guidance of experts. A professional photographer on board with you in the raft would provide commentary along the ride. At the end of this ride enjoy a sumptuous meal at the base camp from where you get a marvelous vies of Yoho National Park.
Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rocky Mountains would baffle you. Spanning over 10,800 square kilometers this mountain wilderness is the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies. This wildest mountain park with its splendid backcountry trails is also the home of Columbia Icefields. Columbia Icefields is among the few icefields in the world accessible by road. Try skiing down the slopes on these ice fields for an exhilarating feeling.
Canmore and Kananaskis are two pristine towns in the Canadian Rockies. Canmore just outside Banff National Park is the main center of the Bow Valley Community. In this town experience the outdoor wilderness together with a visit to museums and cozy restaurants. Kananaskis Country, a park network, is a virtual playground and a supremely quiet recluse.
