Start your tour by visiting the ruins in Abbaye d’Orval. The audio-visual presentation of the history of monastery will help you to learn more about it. You can also learn about the present-day life of the community here. Explore the ruins of the medieval abbey. There is also a museum in the foundations of the 18th century building. The pharmaceutical museum and the medicinal herb-garden are quite interesting. Guided tours are available every afternoon during July and August. In September, guided tours are conducted only on Sunday afternoons. These audio-visual presentations are conducted in French and Dutch.
Besides the ruins, your visit must include the cloister, various workshops and chalet etc. Abbaye d’Orval is known for Trappist beer. You can buy one as a souvenir as well.
