History of Blenheim Palace
Blenheim Palace was a gift from Queen Anne and the whole nation to the first Duke of Marlborough to thank him for his great victory over the French at the 1704 Battle of Blenheim.
At present, it is the home of the 11th Duke of Marlborough. He along with his family resides there and takes care of it.
As this is the palace where Sir Winston Churchill was born, there is a permanent exhibition about him next to the room where he was born. Due to his love for Blenheim, Churchill often visited it during his long life. He is buried in a simple grave in the nearby church at Bladon. Inside the palace, you will find a magnificent collection of paintings, tapestries, porcelain and furniture in the State Rooms.
