The well-known lakes of this national park include Buttermere, Coniston Water, Derwent Water, Bassenthwaite Lake, Haweswater Reservoir, and Ullswater. Besides these, there are also Elterwater, Esthwaite, Ennerdale Water, Grasmere, Loweswater, Rydal Water, Thirlmere, Wast Water — the deepest lake of England and Windermere — the largest lake of England.
Though lakes act as a major attraction to the Lake District National Park, but its appeal is not limited to those only. You have several other activities to do here. Go for walking, cycling, climbing, canoeing, or else you can also go for bird watching, fishing or horse riding.
Coniston Boating Centre: This is the place where you can hire a boat 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. and go for boating. There are several types of boat available here which include electric self-drive boat, rowing boat, and sailing dinghy. You can also go for canoeing and kayaking here.
Lake District Visitor Centre: Also visit the Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockhole. It is the place where you will find wonderful gardens, adventure playground, exhibitions etc.
