After crossing the 'Plonlein', a spectacular road fork, proceed to the Town Hall and climb up to its platform to have an impressive view of the surroundings. The Hall with its dark dungeons and historical vaults would certainly amaze you. Rothenburg Castle garden or 'Burggarten' is another charming place of this town. St. Jacob Church built in Gothic architectural design is famous for its Holy Blood Altar or 'Heilige Blut Altar' supposedly containing a drop of Christ's blood. A visit to the Crime Museum and its torture chamber containing execution and torture devices would horrify you.

Warzburg, famous for its baroque buildings, is a day's trip about 44 miles from Rothenburg ob der Tauber. The spectacular city of Nuremberg is about 70 miles from Rothenburg and takes about an hour by car. Neuschwanstein Castle is another illustrious site at about two hours driving distance.

The 'Master's draught' or 'Meistertrunk' festival commemorates the city folks' desperate and successful attempt to protect themselves from the wrath of Fieldmarshall Johann Tserclaes, or 'Tilly' on 30th October, 1630. This festival is held with lot of fanfare and merriment, with parades in traditional costumes, performance of plays and drinking of wine.
