Uffizi in Florence is not just another art museum but a collection of the world's choicest masterpieces created by iconic artists since medieval times. Uffizi Museum glorifies with the works of Botticelli, Titian, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Simone Martini, Caravaggio, and Raphael. Dating back to the 16th century, the galleries are a virtual journey of five centuries.

On the request of Granduca Francisco de' Medici, the Uffizi gallery was constructed in 1581 as per plans of architect and painter Georgio Vasari. It was strategically built from beside the Medici Palace to River Arno over Ponte Vecchio Bridge for the purpose of holding offices and bureaucratic meetings. In 1584, Buontalenti, Vasari's successor built the fabulous 'Tribuna Ottagonale' or 'Octagonal Platform' as a cosmological structure. The element of 'air' is represented by a weather cock, 'water' is represented by the sky vault, and 'fire' is depicted by red upholstery. An octagonal table placed in the center of the room is the main attraction. An armory, a gallery of scientific instruments, and a 'cabinet of the Madame' containing miniature artifacts are remarkable.

The XVII century gallery is outstanding with its collections of porcelain, archaeological remains, hard stone implements, and hand made articles. In the XVIII century, scientific instruments were taken and displayed in this Florence museum. In the 19th century, paintings of 'Contini Bonacossi' as well as 'Feroni' collections were recovered and displayed. The Vasariano Corridors and Mediceo Theater were renovated, where many sculptures and minor art works were put on display.
