Monte Carlo Casino has been the glamorous location for James Bond movies 'Never Say Never Again' and 'Golden Eye'. Ian Fleming's 'Casino Royale' was also based on this fabulous Casino of Monte Carlo. Monaco Monte Carlo Casino is also the venue for grand operas, incredible ballets, and path breaking theaters. The European Poker Tour grand finale is held annually in this regal building. Strangely, no local citizens are allowed inside Casino Monte Carlo, where entrance is restricted to foreigners only.

Designed by architect Charles Garnier, the premises is out of fairy tale books. The marble paved atrium is lined by 28 Ionic columns of onyx. Fountains and brook bridges lend a royal touch to the compound of Monte Carlo Casino. After crossing the atrium you enter 'Salle Garnier'or the auditorium of the opera. Decorated in red and gold the auditorium has exquisite frescos, bas-reliefs, and sculptures. The auditorium has been the venue of many world acclaimed performances like Massenet's 'Cleopatra' in 1914, Rendine's 'Un Segreto d'importanza' in 1992 and Lowell Liebermann's 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' in 1996. Monte Carlo Casino has been immortalized by the performances of the likes of Lubin, Dalla Rizza, Patti, Muzio, Chaliapine, Gigli, and Schipa.

Ballet in Monte Carlo Casino was first performed in 1911 by Serge de Diaghilev's Ballet Russses. In 1993 the responsibility of directing Les Ballet de Monte Carlo was offered to Jean Christophe Maillot by the President of the ballet group. You would love to know that the audience in Monte Carlo Casino have had the privilege of watching William Forsythe, Twyla Tharp, Karole Armitage, John Neumeier, George Balanchine, and Lucinda Childs.

It is surprising to note that this casino in Monaco is also the home of Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra. This philharmonic orchestra has been led by Richard Strauss, Sir Thomas Beecham, Sir John Barbiroli and Leopold Stokowski. Among the contemporary conductors Wolfgang Sawallisch, Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel, and Sir George Solti have led this Philharmonic Orchestra.

The gaming rooms characterized by stained glass windows, allegorical paintings, and outstanding decorations are arranged in succession. The European Rooms with slot machines and roulette are open afternoon onwards on all days. The Private Rooms in addition to roulette feature 'double sided table' from 5:00 pm to 10:30 pm and 'Punto Banco' after 10:00 pm. The 'English Club' opens after 10:00 pm.

For visiting Monte Carlo Casino, you need to spend about 45 minutes and be attired formally in tie and jacket. Being open to foreign nationals only, you are required to carry your identification. Please remember, that anyone below 18 years of age are not allowed entry in this casino.
