Air:
Moscow has four main airports viz. Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO), Domodedovo International Airport (DME), Vnukovo International Airport (VKO) and Bykovo Airport (BKA).
Train:
Moscow can be reached from almost anywhere in Europe and Central Asia by train. Trans-Siberian Railway service is available from Beijing, Ullaanbaatar and Vladivostok. Moscow has nine train stations which include Belorussky, Rizhsky, Leningradsky, Savyolovsky, Yaroslavsky, Kazansky, Kursky, Paveletsky and Keivsky. All the stations except Savyolovsky have long-distance trains.
Car:
Take E30 road if you are coming down from Germany, Poland, or Bielarussia. EU and American citizens better come via Latvia using E22 road. Take E18 road if you are coming down from Finland through St. Pe

rg and Novgorod.
Bus:
Euroline buses are available various destination including Riga, Latvia and London to Moscow.

One of the most easily recognizable cathedrals of the world, the Saint Basil's is also known as the Cathedral of the Protection of the Mother God, or Pokrovskiy Cathedral, St. Basil's Cathedral is located at the southeast end of famous Red Square in the capital of Russia — Moscow. A unique and attractive church with distinctive onion domes, St. Basil's Cathedral can amaze you with its nine chapels built on a single foundation. To a number of people throughout the world, this Russian Cathedral is also popularly known as Cathedral of Saint Basil the Blessed.

Visiting St. Basil's Cathedral

The features of St. Basil's Cathedral that will attract you at the first glance are its colorful onion-shaped domes and spires, though originally those were not painted with different colors. During its construction in the 16th century by Ivan IV, popularly known as Ivan the Terrible, it was decorated with white stone standing boldly against the red brick walls. It then was known as Church of the Intercession. Later, over the following 200 years, those were painted colorfully. During that period, the chapel and tent-roofed bell tower were also added.

Once you enter inside the cathedral, the outer lavish-works will be replaced by plain and simple ones. The interior consists of a collection of separate chapels. All the chapels are full of beautiful icons, and various rich artworks on the top inside of the domes. The walls are painted with medieval paints.

Visit the St. Basil the Blessed on the lower floor where St. Basil was laid in a silver casket in gaudy grandeur. A bronze statue, commemorating Dmitry Pozharsky and Kuzma Minin, is kept in the garden in front of the cathedral.
