Yet, this is the place that has got huge association with the great Picasso. And the reason is pretty simple — it has got the most extensive collections of Picasso's works. Well, we are talking about Museu Picasso — one of the most popular as well as the most visited museums in Barcelona, Spain.

It was Jamie Sabartíés, the lifelong friend of Picasso, who convieved the idea of setting up Museu Picasso. The great artist gave several of this creations to this friend including a number of paintings, drawings and prints as friendship gifts during their course of friendship. Initially Sabartíés wanted to set up the museum with these collections in Mí¡laga, as the place was the birthplace of his famous friend. But it was Picasso himself, who suggested Sabartíés to set up it in Barcelona citing his deep nexus with the city. Hence, the Museu Picasso came up in Barcelona's Barri Gotic, in five adjoining medieval palaces.
