Must see Istanbul

' Good- Samaritans of Turkey' — an article from one of our favorite news daily brought up an incessant gleam in my eyes. In the quest to achieve mental solace or take a break from the daily hustle, most of the troubled lot — burned-out employees — fall prey to flashy travel advertisements, and land-up spending quite a chunk of their savings. Little did we know that the destination we are looking for can always be our very own - the Turkish turf. Situated at the central of Eurasia, Turkey with its hot spots — typically the must see Istanbul sites — can always turn you nostalgic or leave you spellbound with its archi-mastery or the vast historical saga it portrays through the must see places in Istanbul. No matter, whether it is the furlong palaces, the imposing mosques or the labyrinthine artistry draped over all, or even the archaeological findings in the deepest nook of the city, the city will be best for those wishing for fun and explorations at comparatively nominal expenses.

To start with, my favorite would always be the Topkapi Palace — one of the architectural masterpieces of the Ottoman Sultans from the 15th - 19th century. Typical of a Muslim relic, this voluminous must see Istanbul construction stretches over acreages and obviously is a historic emblem of the city. Wide and endless — if you venture out the interiors. Galore with chambers, gardens, museums, art galleries as well as plethora of halls and courtyards, keep a full day in hand if you wish to explore everything about the palace. And the off-white construction will catch any pedestrians eyes, who hops along its bylines. So carry your camera, cause the bohemian is worthy to be stored in your gadget permanently. More like a time travel for the history-crazy lots, the Dolmabahce Palace can be your next aim. And the best part, the palace is a queer mix of multiple art influences of the Baroque, Rococo, Neo-Classic and Islamic artifacts.

Everything is fun if you are feeling relieved and stress-free. So if you are looking to cherish nature as well, time to fix a cruise over the Bosphorus — a narrow straight that cuts through the heart of the city. For the subtle beauty or to perceive the surrounding lifestyle of people in Istanbul, a walk along the shores of Bosphorus — a must see place in Istanbul - is also not a bad idea either. Or else, a stair climb up to the summit of the Galata Tower is brilliant to foray. And to notch-up the fun get a guide to tell you the whereabouts of the city, while you are gazing awe-struck at the panorama of the city from the tower top. Not over with the excitement yet? There are multitudes still left to be rambled. For instance, ply to the Basilica Cistern - a must see tourist attraction in Istanbul - to know the architectural and technological mastery of a typical Byzantine architecture. Penetrate the gruesome interiors — though partially lit up with lamps — and you can come across 100s of ancient receptacles just under the Istanbul streets, engineered to withhold rainwater.

And, while you are ending your trip, but raring to finish all the must see Istanbul sites, make a point to visit the Hagia Sophia Mosque, an exemplary example of Byzantine art and the de facto of the city — a renowned landmark. Of all, the Suleymaniye Mosque; the architectural design of Sultan Ahmad Mosque comprising of both Byzantine and Islamic influences; or the grand interior decor of Rustam Pasha Mosque are worth the visit for their historic eminence as well as the peerless artistry. And, finally for some, there is always the green, dense and historic environment at the Archaeological Museum Complex that will always be enticing. Divided into major sections like Archaeological Museum, Museum of the Ancient Orient and the Museum of Islamic Art, the premises is best to be ventured to walk back in time and feel the essence of ancient Turkey.

Though not a typical must see for all times, the bazars can also be explored, if wishing to get a glimpse of the local lifestyle, the city din and the boundless activities all day.
