An integral part of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, the Gateway Arch, is located in the city of St. Louis in Missouri, USA. Designed by Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen and structural engineer Hannskarl Bandel, the construction of the Gateway Arch started on 12th February, 1963. It took almost 2Â½ years to complete this 630 feet tall monument. On 24th July, 1967, the Gateway Arch was opened to the public.

Things to Do

As your start your visit to the Gateway Arch In St. Louis , you need to come down to its underground visitor center. There are also two passenger trams, which will take you to the observation room at the top and also the Museum of Westward Expansion. Tucker Theater is also another attraction in the Gateway Arch where a documentary film by Charles Guggenheim on the construction of the Arch, called Monument to the Dream, is shown daily. Odyssey Theatre is the place where large screen movies are shown.
