Significance
El Yunque National Forest in Puerto Rico is the only tropical forest in the United States National Forest System. It is also home to the second highest mountain peak from which it derives its name. The forest is located on the slopes of the Sierra de Luquillo Mountains and is spread over an area of around 113.32 sq kms.
