How to Reach
The nearest airport is Placencia Airport (PLJ). You can find frequent flights of Maya Airways and Tropic Air — the two local airlines, from Belize City to reach Placencia in around 30 minutes. If you are coming down from overseas, you need to come first at Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE). Regular flights are available to this airport from various destinations including Dallas, Miami, Tegucigalpa, La Ceiba, Roatan, San Pedro Sula, Houston-Intercontinental, Newark, Atlanta, San Salvador, and many other places.
If you are coming down from Belize, you need to take Southern Highway. The road may be rough and dusty as well.

Don't just confine yourself to the beach when you visit Placencia Beach in Belize. Hire a bike when you are in Placencia and travel to Seine Bight, or book a river float tour down the Money River nearby, where you can find the famous Howler Monkeys, Iguanas, and even Crocodiles. At other times, of course, you can walk along the magnificent beach, hire cycles, golf carts or cars to go from place to place. The biggest attractions of Placencia are quite certainly its scintillating beaches, well known for its characteristic laid back attitude. However, if that make you think that there is a lack of excitement, then you are bound to be proven wrong. There is no dearth of excitement as thrill as the Placencia Beach in Belize has the second largest barrier reef in the world, which provides the perfect opportunity for snorkeling and diving. The calm and smooth waters of Placencia are perfect for a range of water sports like kayaking, fishing, and sailing. You can also visit to the offshore cayes and atolls.
Placencia consists of 3 communities called Maya Beach, Seine Bight, and Placencia Village. This 16 miles long peninsula is home to less than 500 people majority of whom are Creoles — the descendents of European settlers and African slaves.
Snorkeling along with a range of tropical fish including trumpet fish, angelfish, damselfish, parrotfish etc. under the warm Caribbean waters is one of the most popular attractions of Placencia Beach Belize. The twenty miles of underwater canyons and the top of the mountains between the Placencia Peninsula and the Barrier Reef of Belize has got extensive range of cays, many of which are crowned with mangroves and profuse bird life, which are also one of the major attractions of Placencia. You can also visit some other cays like Laughing Bird Caye, Pumpkin, Ranguana, and the Silk Cayes etc.
Diving is another popular activity in Placencia Beach Belize. The Belize Barrier Reef is a part of the Mesoamerican Reef (MAR) system. It offers enjoy the beauty of vibrant and wonderful coral reefs, along with colorful fish, coral, lobsters, conch, and turtles etc. You will also get an opportunity to have a rendezvous with parrot fish, blue tangs, grunts, sergeant majors, trumpet fish, needle fish, and butterfly fish. You can also find Whale Sharks during May-June.
Sailing is one of the most popular activities for the tourists in Placencia. In fact, Belize is arguably the most tempting sailing destination in Central America. The Belize Reef has added more dimension to it. Various types of sailing yachts are available for the visitors. Placencia is also the home to two of Belize's largest charter fleets.
